History of the building
Located in the old Cortes Street, 199-201, the building was an industrial space in 1870. Twenty two years later, in 1892, the building located in Gran Via 559 was constructed with a commercial ground floor and five residential floors above. In 1895, Gran Via 557 was constructed with the same height and uses as the previous building.

The project consists in the construction of two sub-basement floors for parking, one basement floor, and a ground floor with a mezzanine for function, service and reception rooms of the hotel and six floors for the hotel rooms.

Building history
The property, known as Hôtel Rivié, was built at the beginning of the XVIIIth century (1730) as the private residence of Étienne de Rivié, counselor of King Luis XIV. It waswas designed by the architect Nicolas Pineau.
The main building (hôtel particulier) featured a principal corp de logis running parallel to the street that was sandwiched between a garden at the rear and a cour d’honneur (principal courtyard) at the front, the latter surrounded on its three sides by service buildings and accessed via a porte cochère (entry for horse drawn carriages). The hôtel’s stables were originally disposed around a small courtyard that was located where the right-hand wing of the cour d’honneur.
At the end of the XIXth century, the first building was redesigned and adapted in order to transform it into facilities for the trade of wholesale cloths.
During the early XXth century, and through different stages, a new U- shaped building was built at the rear garden creating a magnificent courtyard.
